I’m alarmed to report that one of our hummingbirds is still hanging around. I just watched it flit around our feeder for a few minutes before taking a drink and departing.
We actually took the feeders down a few weeks ago but before we got them inside, we noticed a few birds swooping onto the front step where we’d left them. So we put them back up.
But I hadn’t seen any of our little avian friends in a few days so I thought (hoped) they were all on their way to Mexico. But one little lady is still sticking around.
I haven’t been able to find any timetable for when hummingbirds are supposed to leave Vermont, but it always surprises me that they arrive so early in the spring, so maybe they’re procrastinators on the way south too.
